In The Upper Room
"In The Upper Room" depicts an experience of sub-anesthetic ketamine infusions for treatment resistant depression, an off-label psychiatric use that has drawn both hope and controversy. Ketamine's rapid antidepressant effects are widely discussed, yet stigma persists amid risks of dependency and unequal access. The title references Philip Glass and Twyla Tharp's 'In the Upper Room', whose pulsing score makes an apt accompaniment to a visionary state induced by IV drip.
